When I was 12 or 13 years old, I verbally expressed a desire to help black people. I have always been fascinated with our people. I wanted to know why we were forced into slavery and why we had to fight for rights and privileges that were automatically granted to others, especially white folks. As a child and young teenager, I read everything I could about our people. I read about our history. I read about our leaders and our struggles.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Hosea 4:6
